I’m Carol, one of the founder members of Dawn Patrol Rotary Club. Like all retired people, I find that my days are filled with various activities and I don’t know how I found time to go to work! I joined the Rotary District Youth Opportunities team in 2005 and have worked with young people since then. I facilitated the Rotary Youth Leadership awards and have organised many youth competitions. In 2017 I became the District Governor, supporting 79 clubs with Kent, East Sussex and Gibraltar. I am now a District support person, helping 8 clubs in the west of Kent area. I currently help with the administration at Rotary Radio UK.

Since then I have organised an inter-primary school music competition for four consecutive years. As a Rotarian I have been to Kerala 6 times volunteering and financially supporting SEN schools and orphanages. Have aided the design and construction of several sensory rooms in schools, etc. In my spare time I am trustee/treasurer for a SEN charity in Maidstone.

Mary

Hi, I’m Mary. I am club secretary for Maidstone Dawn Patrol and one of the founder members of the club which chartered in 2002. I am now actively retired, having spent 50 years in the Legal Profession which I enjoyed very much. I am married with three grown up children and two grandchildren. My hobbies are walking, travelling, gardening, reading and meeting up with many friends I have been lucky enough to have made over the years. I enjoy my meetings with Rotary and taking part in the activities of the Club, where I have made many friends, acquaintances and interesting people. I am also a presenter on Rotary Radio UK playing easy listening music all through the decades on Monday afternoons 2-4 pm and Tuesday evenings 8-10pm. My love of music including ballet and opera takes me regularly to concerts and musical theatres both locally and in London.

Dennis

Dennis

Hello, I'm Dennis. I've been a Rotarian for 40 years. I live in Ashford and used to work in Maidstone but no longer. I've stayed in Dawn Patrol Maidstone Club because the members are the nicest bunch of people. A Rotarian can visit any Club in the World; in my time I've been to Clubs in France, Germany, Spain, Portugal, India, and, more. There is always a warm welcome at a Rotary Club whether you're in Maidstone or even Madrid.

Clinton

Clinton

Hi I'm Clinton, a retired vicar but still active in public ministry in Rochester and Canterbury dioceses. I’m also currently a non-practising solicitor, before ordination having specialised in advocacy. Having joined Dawn Patrol in 2018, my particular area of interest is the Maidstone Young Musician competition, which is run and funded by the club. My wife, Nancy, who is a professional musician, (and now an honorary member of Dawn Patrol) advises and works alongside the other members in organising this annual event. The friendly and caring atmosphere in the club is something that is really attractive, and I am so glad to be a member.

Bryan

Bryan

I'm Bryan I've been involved for many, many years but have only been a member since 2017. I've been involved with many of the club's fund-raising activities for distribution to local charitable organisations. Most weekends I enjoy social events and community projects. I try to keep the politics of Rotary to a minimum, enjoying the fellowship and friendships we have made. I am a trustee of Maidstone Mediation which helps the residents of Maidstone to settle disputes. I work at Rotary Radio UK presenting a late-night jazz show twice a week and a show Thursday lunchtimes.

Kev

Kev

Hi I’m Kev I’m an Independent Financial Adviser based just outside Maidstone, in Sutton Valence and prior to that I worked in Banking for 30 years. It should therefore come as no surprise that I’m the Treasurer for the Club and the reason why I joined Rotary was to try and give something back. My interests and hobbies centre around fitness and exercise, specifically Obstacle Course Races and crazy running challenges.
