The Rotary Maidstone Young Musician competition finals are being held earlier this year.
The date is Sunday 1st December, 3.00pm at Invicta Grammar School, Maidstone. Tickets are available on the door: £10 adult, school age free.
The 8 finalists, chosen from the Maidstone Music Festival the previous weekend, will perform to 3 judges: Prof. Grenville Hancox, Flo Peycelon, and Ciara Considine, and last year’s winner, pianist Ameli Sakai Ivanova, will play a couple of pieces.
Before the judges announce their decision, other players from the festival will perform in a ‘Highlights’ feature.
The awards will be made by the mayor, Councillor John Perry. All finalists receive certificates, a Young Musician of Promise gains a shield, and the Runner-Up and Maidstone Young Musician 2025 are presented with glass obelisks.
This year’s Runner-Up, Elizabeth Knowles, became top singer of the year at Rotary’s National Finals.
Rotary Maidstone Dawn Patrol will serve refreshments before the concert and during the interval. There will also be a raffle with many splendid prizes.
